Meet the Wildman’s

  • Chuck & Carol

The Wildman family have lived and farmed in the area since 1806! We are proud of our agricultural heritage and excited to share our knowledge with you. Chuck and Carol started their farm journey and family in 1984 as the 7th generation on the farm. They have always been interested in sharing what is happening in agriculture with the consumer and helping them understand what contemporary farming is. They are delighted to stop and talk with you about many different topics and are delighted that you have come to visit. If you need anything they live next door to the House on the Lane location and Chuck is always driving over to that property to check on the hogs in the barn.

  • Kimberly (Kim)

Kimberly (Kim) Wildman is Chuck and Carol’s eldest child and lives on her property of GloryField Hoapitality Farm. She is just beginning her farm journey as the 8th generation of Wildman farmers but is excited to expand the farm in a new direction with the Hospitality Farm that brings the consumer to the farm. Tending the grounds, gardens, and animals at GloryField and the other vacation rentals the Wildman’s operate brings her great joy and she is delighted to share them with the guests. When you visit GloryField she is ready to assist you in whatever you need or answer any questions about farming you have.

  • Mindy

Mindy Wildman is the third child of Chuck and Carol and she aids her family on the farm when extra help is needed but her primary role on the farm is in the marketing and the renovation/maintenance of the vacation rentals. She has found excitement in the renovation of each vacation rental property and she has an artistic eye that has allowed her to decorate the homes in a warm and welcoming manner. All of the photographic artwork featured in the homes are her photography and mostly of the Wildman’s various properties. She and her dog Luna live at the Traveler’s Retreat location.

  • Simon

Simon Wildman is the youngest child of Chuck and Carol and was born with Downs Syndrome. He finds great joy in helping his family get things ready for your stay! Cleaning, making the beds, restocking the supplies, and replacing the water are often his duties. Helping his father set up the barns for animals or Kim with the gardens are some of the other tasks he also performs. Everything he does is done with joy, enthusiasm, and a touch of superhero powers as he loves his superheroes!

Hospitality

In 2019 the Wildman’s began to opening their doors at for the world to visit the farm. Each location (House on the Lane, GloryField Hospitality Farm, & Traveler’s Retreat) has a unique story and set up but 3 things are always there… they are located on our farmland, they are stocked with essentials so you can immediately begin relaxing, and our goal is your enjoyment.

A farm is never just fields, or just animals. They always work together and what is happening on the farm is constantly changing. And the Wildman’s have been farming in South Charleston since 1806 and we are alway excited to share the history of our farm. Each location has a different farm experience for our guests to experience. Learn more about the farm at your vacation rental or our larger operation Standing Oaks Enterprises here.

The Farm

The Conservation Land

GloryField has a private conservation wetland and pond that was engineered as part of the Clean Water Act in Greene County. It covers approximately 8 acres, almost 2 of which is a pond. This wetland and pond become a natural habitat for many species of birds, fish, and animals. Unique animals spotted have been heron, beaver, trumpeter swan & even a bald eagle. We encourage you to explore the conservation land, fish the pond, and discover the animals that call it home. Or venture out to the gazebo, picnic tables, designated fire rings, or other observation points to just enjoy the beauty.

The Trails

There are aproximately 2 miles of maintained trails that are just waiting for you to explore. Hike the trails in the conservation land and around the pond, walk the perimeter of the fields and out to the orchard. We are always trying to clear up multiple wooded trails for you to discover. These trails are a perfect way to stretch your legs and enjoy some exercise after a long drive.
