Experience the Wetland

Nature Walk

Explore and discover the nature around you. Investigate the different kinds of habitats that a wide variety of animals have created or found at GloryField Hospitality Farm. We have spotted a variety of birds that are common in this area but on the occasional morning (before 10AM) there has also been a Great Blue Heron and Bald Eagle spotted. Spend time at the pond and try to catch a glimpse of the beaver!

Fishing

What better way to spend an afternoon than out at the pond fishing. Our pond is a Catch and Release pond only. Help us discover the different types of fish stocked in it. So far we have found large mouth bass up to 10inches long! Other creatures in the pond are turtles, frogs, and beaver. Some fishing rods and gear are available upon request but it is best to bring your own.

Experience the Great Outdoors

Campfire

Some nights are just perfect for gathering around a campfire or bonfire. Roast some hotdogs and marshmallows, and have some great conversations with family and friends. GloryField Hospitality Farm has designated fire rings located throughout the property. Gather some dead sticks and limbs along the trails or grab some split logs from the barn pile. The House on the Lane has a Solo Stove smokeless fire pit that can be used upon request.

Hiking Trails

There are over 2 mile of maintained trails around the 60 acre property. Trails through the wetland on both sides of the stream and pond. Some trails hike the perimeter of the fields or cut through them at the waterways. And soon there will be trails going into the wooded areas. Take along a plant identification app and discover all of the native plants growing along the trails.

Stargazing

You have come to the country to escape the city and see things you don’t see every day. How often do you see the stars? Out here on a clear night you will be amazed at how many stars are actually in the night sky. Turn off all the lights at the house, grab a lawn chair or walk away from the house, and test your astrology knowledge by stargazing. We recommend the app Sky View Lite to help you understand what is in the sky.

Bird Watching

Sometimes it’s fun to just sit in one spot and just watch the birds. Depending on the time of year there are a wide variety of songbirds, waterfowl, and predator birds in the area. We have spotted Song birds like the Barn Swallow, Morning Dove, Robin, & Redwing Black Bird. Out at the pond you can often spot a Great Blue Heron, Ducks, and Canadian Geese. In the Woods you can often hear a woodpecker, mocking bird, or owl. Farms often attract predator birds like hawks & vultures we have spotted a Bald Eagle a couple of times! Imagine what you will spot with your binoculars.

Many chores begin around 7:30-8:00AM and is often finished before Noon when the heat of the day kicks in.

Tractor Rides

Some experiences just can’t be missed out on. Riding along side a farmer in a tractor, combine, or semi is one of them. The best times of the year to ride along is during May Planting, July Wheat Harvest, and October Harvest. Let us know if you want a ride because the equipment might be working at a different location but you are still welcome to ride along. One adult at a time and children must be accompanied by an adult. The ride will last at least 30 min as equipment only drives at approximately 4mph.
